WRJ January 2006 Roundup

On Thursday, December 1 Zielonka Hall was lit and warmed with WRJ’s presence.  Over thirty Temple women gathered to bake cookies for our annual Chanukah fundraiser and celebrate Chanukah with Cantor Robbi. The evening began with a report from Alanna Bach who attended the WRJ Biennial conference in Houston, TX.

Alanna explained that she and Michelle Blumenfeld collected many leadership suggestions and program ideas to bring back to our local Temple group.  Next, Lori Gaman led a group of women baking in the kitchen while a second group spoke about the female heroes in their lives and sang Chanukah songs with Robbi.  Then the groups switched spots and closed out the evening with friendship and warmth (in the kitchen).

WRJ will meet again on Rosh Chodesh Shevat for a Craft Night at Temple. We will gather at Temple on Monday January 30, 2006 from 6:30-8:30pm to practice a couple of crafts that can help break up the long winter months.  The two crafts being offered are scrapbooking and mosaic making, and you will need to choose one.  The cost of the event is $10 and this will cover all of the necessary supplies.  Please send your check made payable to WRJ to Temple by January 26 and this will serve as your RSVP for the evening.

For scrapbooking, please bring 2-3 photos of the same event, and you will put together a small page. Laurynne Cunningham, a Creative Memories representative, will show you how to begin your own scrapbooking adventure.  She will have colorful paper, markers, stickers, and cutting tools available for your use.  If you want to learn about scrapbooking but aren’t ready to start your own, you can work on the WRJ book – we will supply the photos.

For the mosaic project you will receive a Star of David background. A representative from “At the Clayground” will bring a wide variety of glass pieces to choose from and guide you through the assembly process.
Thank you to those of you who have renewed your WRJ membership for the 2005-2006 year. We will close our membership campaign on January 31.  If you need to send in your membership, please remit it to Dori Fenenbock at 512 Wild Willow, 79922.  The membership levels are: $36 for regular membership, $54 for the Ruth level, and $90 for the Miriam level.

Please save the date for the “Roaring 20s” Purim Masquerade Ball on Saturday, March 11, 2006.  The party will include dinner, dancing, a live auction, and more.  The ball will be held at Temple and is open to everyone.  For more information, please contact Dori Fenenbock, 581-9993 or Ann Schaechner, 584-3957.
